Description of a Process

Five days out of the week I follow the same routine for nine months out of the year. I wake up at five thirty in the morning and I thank God for blessing me to see another day. Then I will brush my teeth, cleanse my body and change into street clothing. I am always happy to fill the kettle with water and light the stove to make my morning cup of tea. My children alarm goes off at six in the morning so they can get ready for school. They must take a shower, so give them a fresh morning vibes. The next step is to provide them with a solid and healthy breakfast. Then I see that my two older sons have everything they need before they leave for school. They travel to school by themselves. I remember the days when I had to escort everyone to school because they were too little and innocent to have them walking without an adult company. I am  not done yet, I still have my third grader at home. He has to be at school for twenty minutes pass eight in the morning. So, during that short gap before I take him to school I pack his lunch bag. Since the COVID 19 pandemic, NYC Public Schools requires that you fill out a health survey for your child daily so you child can gain access to the school building. At eight o clock, my son and I leaves home to take him to school. The walk can become stressful at times, but overall we make the best out of the fifteen minutes walk. My son usually gives me updates on his school’s social life and tell me about his video games that he plays. We aim to always find the positive in anything and everything that involves us. I have followed this same routine with minor adjustments here and there, for the past six years since I moved to the Bronx. My process is being a Mother that values education.
